How does Evaporative Cooling work?

A ScottsAir ducted evaporative cooling systems consists of a central cooling unit (installed on top of the roof) that is connected via a system of ducts, to outlets strategically placed in the ceiling of your rooms. A fan in the cooling unit draws in air from outside your home and passes it through moistened pads, cooling and filtering the air. The cool fresh air then flows through the ducting into every room that you want cooled.

Healthier, Fresher Air

Evaporative cooling utilises the natural process of evaporation; cooling the air by water - just like a cool, refreshing sea breeze. The evaporation and cooling effect is greater the hotter the incoming air is to begin with. Unlike refrigerated cooling, which requires a closed system to maintain a cooler temperature, evaporative cooling requires you to leave your windows and doors open. This means that it replaces stale old air inside your home with clean fresh air (many times an hour), so air is not re-circulated and airborne germs and smells are also expelled. Also, as evaporative cooling will not dry out the air, it will not irritate your skin, throat or eyes.
